  • What is Non-Medical Transport?

New to non-medical transport? No worries. You don’t need any medical training or experience to drive for E-Ryde.

Non-medical transport, also known as non-emergency transport or NMT, is a transportation service provided for those with medical or ambulatory needs. It’s generally used to transport patients to and from medical facilities. However, NMT can also transport people to special events or on excursions from the hospital.

Hospitals and care centers in the Bay Area are in desperate need of better, more accessible non-medical transport. By joining our driver network, you can help patients and caregivers access the rides they need with no high fees or long waiting times.

About E-Ryde

E-Ryde is the first app of its kind, connecting NMT passengers directly to available drivers. You can think of us as a rideshare service for non-medical transport.

Here’s how It Works:

01

Ride Ordered

A passenger or their caregiver requests a ride through the app. This may be transportation to a hospital, between medical facilities, or to another event.

02

Ride Claimed

As a driver in the area, you can choose to claim any local ride request.

03

Transporting Passengers

You’ll pick up your passenger at their door and drive them to their destination. They may need assistance getting into or out of the vehicle.

04

Getting Paid

Our drivers are paid per mile, plus a $10 premium on every ride, regardless of the distance.

Types of Drivers Needed

E-Ryde offers three levels of non-medical transportation: ambulatory, wheelchair, and gurney. We are currently building our driver network in all three categories.

Ambulatory

You do not need a commercial vehicle or medical training to join our ambulatory transportation network. This is for passengers who can walk but may need some assistance getting to and from the car.

Wheelchair/Gurney

If you own or have experience driving specially equipped NMT vehicles, get in touch with us. We partner with a local NMT service but are always eager to expand our network to new drivers.

Get Started with E-Ryde

To get started as an ambulatory NMT driver with E-Ryde, you’ll need:

  • A clean, functional vehicle with no damage
  • Adequate insurance
  • A functional phone and reliable data plan
  • To be willing to assist passengers to and from the car

Some professional driving experience is appreciated. We are also interested in drivers with a wheelchair or gurney-accessible vehicle and NMT experience. Contact us to learn more about our wheelchair and gurney driver networks.
